When panic starts to creep in and you feel your heart racing, immediately bring your attention to your breath. Usually we give no thought whatsoever to breathing, it comes naturally. But breathing is the easiest and quickest way to push anxiety to the curb.

Here’s how to breathe to get instant control over your anxiety: Breathe slowly and deeply, in and out. Breathe with your diaphragm! Take a deep breath in through the nose, let your lower abdomen fill up first, then the middle abdomen and finish by the chest. As you breathe, follow your breath as it travels up your body. Your concentration is on your breathe and in the moment. Hold it for a couple of seconds in your chest and as you exhale, push out any stress, negative thoughts or worry. While you do your breathing exercises, visualize a happy place - a place that brings you joy. Whether it’s your home with your family, or some place in nature, visualizing it will help you to relax and let the stress melt away. 2. Analyze

When you feel anxious, it’s your body telling you it needs some love and attention! Take some time to yourself. Eat a delicious meal, go for a walk, take a bath, read a book…Do something you love! 5. Plan

Anxiety gets worse when overwhelm starts. Take control and do a little planning. Update your calendar, make a to-do list, do some meal planning. When you see it all written down, it’s on paper and out of your head. This helps you to feel more relaxed and in control.
